Enlightenment Themes
![]() | Johann Sebastian Bach was not a very historical figure in the enlightenment but still contributed in some ways. The bulk of his work had been religious,he made four-part settings of 371 Lutheran chorals. He worked with the church to go against the ideas of the enlightenment and showed support by including biblical themes in his music, this had a great impact because of music being one of the primary tools of religious worship. He wrote an enormous body of both sacred and secular (unrelated to religion) music that synthesized a variety of styles. Johann Sebastian Bach served a fine position against the enlightenment's ideas and helping the catholic church with his music. |
